MpVFAD-LIKE missing experimental subject The M. polymorpha candidate desaturase MpVFAD-LIKE was heterologously expressed in a Saccharomyces cerevisiae ole1 mutant. It desaturated very-long-chain fatty acyl moieties, producing monounsaturated VLCFAs (24:1/26:1) in sphingolipids (IPCs, MIPCs, M(IP)2Cs), acyl-CoAs (notably 26:1-CoA), and triacylglycerols, supporting that VFADs act on acyl-CoA substrates.
