Single-copy dynamin-related protein homologue studied by RT-PCR (two splice variants MpDRP3s/l), Citrine-fusion localization to mitochondrial constriction sites, and knockout (Mpdrp3). Mpdrp3 mutants showed severe growth retardation and blocked mitochondrial fission with elongated mitochondria, identifying MpDRP3 as required for mitochondrial fission.
