ß-tubulin; To analyze microtubule function and cell division in Marchantia, the expression of four MpTUBs was compared and TUB1 was found to be most uniformly expressed in Marchantia polymorpha tissues. The live-cell microtubule marker MpTUB1-GFP was generated, which is expressed under the control of the MpEF1a promoter. The observed intimate cooperation of Marchantia polar organizers comprising TUB1 with preprophase bands provides insight into the evolution of division plane alignment control of land plants.
